The name cannot be identical or similar to that of an existing enterprise, and sensitive or misleading terms as well as names consisting only of abbreviations are prohibited.

There is no statutory minimum limit for registered capital, yet an amount above 3 million Japanese yen is recommended. Insufficient registered capital may lead to failure in corporate bank account opening.

Kabushiki Kaisha (KK)
It is the most common type of corporate organization in Japan. Companies established under this structure enjoy high social credibility, are permitted to issue stocks and bonds, and can raise funds conveniently.
2
Godo Kaisha (GK)
It is a relatively common form of corporate organization in Japan. Its social credibility is lower than that of Kabushiki Kaisha, and it is widely adopted in Japan's retail industry and for asset allocation purposes.
3
Sogo Kaisha
Mutual companies represent a special category among Japanese corporate forms. They are non‑profit legal entities in Japan, and this entity type is mostly registered by insurers and enterprises engaged in insurance‑related businesses.
4
Goshi Kaisha (Gomei Kaisha )
All members of this corporate form bear unlimited liability. Profit distribution is carried out according to the proportions preset in the articles of association. Compared with Godo Kaisha, Goshi Kaisha features a simpler incorporation process and lower registration costs.
